When I contact book shops to ask them if they'd be interested in stocking The Tunnels, I don't expect them to be aware of my other life as a club promoter and DJ. So I was delighted when the Chorlton Bookshop replied to say that The Tunnels looked right up their street, but also that they were fans of our indie pop and soul mixes on Mixcloud. I'm really excited to be appearing at the MCM Comic Con in London for the first time. I went to the MCM at the Excel Centre last year and the year before and loved every second - from the costumes and authors talks to the pinball and wrestling and beyond - so it's a real dream come true to be taking part with my book.

I'm delighted to say that The Tunnels is available at Our Bookshop Tring. As a journalist, I wrote a fair amount about stand up comedy and I was on the Perrier Panel in 1995 (an amazing year and Jenny Eclair was the very worthy winner). So being accepted by a shop that also runs a comedy festival means a lot. |

This time I'll be in conversation with Hannah, talking about The Tunnels, inspiration, fantasy, and writing in general. I'll also be picking three books to save in the event of an apocalypse. I had a fantastic time at the Fort Amherst Fantasy Festival at the weekend. Such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. I met lots of lovely people and saw some amazing costumes. The dress code was science fiction/fantasy, so that was an easy choice for me. In this photo, I am Arthur Dent channeling the Log Lady. |

Really looking forward to the Fort Amherst Fantasy Festival in Chatham this weekend. The festival takes place in the Fort Amherst tunnels so I'll be selling my book The Tunnels in some actual tunnels - it was meant to be! This is a small community run festival that appears to be the Indietracks of fantasy festivals, so I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing all of the amazing costumes. |
